Romney Marsh is famed as a haven for wildlife and particularly for the many wild bird reserves such as the one at Dungeness so if you're a twitcher or just keen to have a chance at seeing birds in a beautiful surrounding be sure to check it out!

One of the other 'must see' attractions here is the world famous Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway. Opened in 1927 and known as the 'World's Smallest Public Railway' it's nearly 14 miles of mainline railway is the most enjoyable way to travel through the marsh and a chance to ride a piece of Railway history. With regular themed days and steam locomotives this is something for people of all ages to enjoy.

If you're feeling brave then a trip to Port Lympne Wild Animal Park is another great day out. Set in 600 acres and housing 650 rare and endangered animals; including Lions, Elephants and Primates. You can even book a safari tour to really experience a wild day out!

There is so much more to discover in the local area not just the big attractions listed above. There are miles of sandy and safe beaches which are perfect for a family day out or just to get an ice cream and some fresh air! The local area is also home to various World War 2 memorial sites and museums paying tribute to the part the Marsh played in homing the RAF and Army during the war.
